Hi, I'm Suzi. I'm a qualified counsellor and founder of Think & Feel.
I am 40, originally from Northern Ireland, and a mum to a fierce seven-year-old daughter. I'm handy on a set of rollerskates, but I'm happiest outdoors. You can usually find me in a kayak, exploring coves and hidden inlets around the coast of Cornwall.
My path towards becoming a counsellor wasn't straightforward. In fact, it has taken me via interior architecture and motherhood to roles at The Sea Sanctuary, Penhaligon Counselling and Kooth.
Along the way, I have attained my DASV and diplomas in Trauma and Mental Health Informed Schools and Person-Centred Counselling and Therapy. You can find my full list of qualifications below or read more about my journey in a blog here.
My therapy approach is integrative, which means it has the foundation of Person-Centred Therapy combining elements of other therapies to help support each individual's needs.
The theories and models that have influenced my practice are a blend of Experiential and Psychoanalytical approaches and practices from Emotional Focused Therapy, Attachment Theory and Transactional Analysis. All of this underpins the framework of a Person-Centred approach.
Throughout this time, the outdoor has stayed close to my heart. I enjoy being outside. It makes me feel free and not trapped. It calms me and inspires me. And so, I wanted to combine the power of nature into my sessions, where possible, to offer outdoor counselling in Cornwall for adults and young people.
And so, Think & Feel was born. A safe space where I hope to help support people in leading safer, more manageable lives.. Working together to begin a healing process, addressing traumas and validating lives while improving and sustaining mental health and wellbeing.
My specialisms lie within the understanding of complex trauma and attachment. I am an effective communicator and thrive on developing positive, trusting relationships that are non-judgemental and empathic.
I have felt privileged to work with young people and adults and have helped them begin re-building themselves. Listening to their stories and working to understand their emotional, physical and social needs.
I am passionate and committed to helping to support people to lead safer lives and giving them the tools they need to heal, improve and sustain their mental health and wellbeing.
